Liberal media rigs poll for Rangel
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 | PolicyThis is what irks me about newspapers.
Big story about Congressman Charlie Rangel whining about an upcoming censure resolution. Honestly, he’s lucky he’s allowed to stay in Congress. But he’s whining.
So the New York Daily News has an online poll. Look at your choices:
Take our Poll
Ruling on RangelDo you think Rangel is guilty of ethics violations?
A. Absolutely not, and his reelection in spite of this proves his quality as a leader.
B. Maybe a couple of the charges, but not all of them by any means.
C. Definitely, all politicians are corrupt.
D. I’m not sure.
Really????? Those are my options. If I think he’s guilty, it MUST be because I think EVERY politician is corrupt??? It can’t be because I simply think HE is corrupt.
Two of the choices say he’s innocent of most or all charges. So my choices are he’s mostly innocent, or every politician in the world is corrupt.
Where’s the choice of “I think he’s guilty of his charges”?
Really, this is why I laugh when people in the newspaper industry claim to be free of bias. This poll is in the News section.
It’s why I’ll never stop pointing out what a laughing stock that claim is.

I really enjoyed Charlie’s performance on CNN this morning. He did nothing criminal–as if failing to report and pay income taxes isn’t criminal. I guarantee if the IRS caught me under-reporting my income by hundreds of thousands of dollars over several years they would give me something much worse than a reprimand.
Hysterical.
I think your headline would have had a lot more caché if it had read “New York Daily News Rigs Poll…” instead of the catch-all and over-used vast “Liberal Media.”
James Delingpole is a writer, journalist and broadcaster who is right about everything. Reminds me of the Honorable Mr Kirwin.
He describes himself as a libertarian conservative who writes brilliant books and brilliant articles, and is really great on TV, radio and the internet too.

I am very grateful to him since he was the one that introduced me to the BBC program “Britain’s Trillion Pound Horror Story”
Perhaps as part of Mr Rangel’s punishment, he should be forced to watch the program 10 times or so. He might learn something. Or make him explain to a group of children why he has no problems stealing money from them for his deficit spending.
Guess that I have been reading The Telegraph of London too much. The 2018 World Cup announcement will be today; that is important.
2018 World What? It it doesn’t have monster players, helmets, pads, instant replays, fights, broken bones or concussions… its boring.
They could rig this poll but they couldn’t rig the censure vote. 333-79.
Isn’t it interesting that the only member of Virginia’s House delegation, both Republican and Democrat, to vote against Rangel’s censure was Bobby Scott?
