Herrity claims 2-1 advantage over Fimian in new poll
By | Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 | Politics

GOP congressional hopeful Pat Herrity just released an internal poll putting him up 42%-21% over Keith Fimian in the 11th district primary. 37% of primary voters are undecided.

In a statement Herrity said:

“A poll of likely GOP voters conducted by The Tarrance Group shows me with a 42% to 21% lead over the next leading Republican candidate. Those polled cited my conservative values, my experience and my chance at beating Connolly in November as reasons they would vote for me in June.

“A survey conducted by Tel Opinion Research of all VA-11 voters found that only 42% of voters approve of ‘the job Gerry Connolly is doing as your congressman.’ And that was before Connolly voted for the $1 trillion, job-killing healthcare bill. In a head-to-head match-up in that pre-healthcare survey, I was within 5 percentage points of Connolly. The next Republican candidate was 12 points behind.”

This also reflects my earlier report about the leaked poll putting Herrity down by 5 points and Fimian down by around 10.

Fimian used McLaughlin & Associates. Herrity is citing a teleopinion poll? Anyone in the know realizes McLaughlin is far more reputable.

Read it again. The poll on Connolly was Teleopinion. Herrity’s internal polling was done by the Terrance Group and they’re one of the tops in the business – bigger than McLaughlin.

Go Herrity – he has a strong team behind him and has the name ID. I’d take Herrity over Fimian any day!

    Really KAS82?

Should we support who will have a better chance at winning or who will have a better chance at mattering?

Seems Mychele Brickner disagrees with Herrity’s polls, too. A very influential Conservative Republican, Mychele just endorsed Fimian.

Herrity is the classic insider, not-ready-for-primetime Tom Davis front man. If you’re tired of Tom, Herrity is not your man. Herrity’s nose seems to grow longer each time Tom Davis pulls those strings.

Nobody could possible believe Herrity unless his polls were taken at a Tom Davis pancake breakfast.

here in the 5th, we are facing a Republican squabble for the nomination, too. The Dems are well-financed, they have SEIU help, Soros help & the Obama GOTV machine. We should nominate the Republican best positioned to beat the Dem.

Anyone know what Mychele and Keith share? They both got stomped by Gerry Connolly.

    B. Adams. — I’m not taking sides in this race, but as I understand it, Fimian was recruited by Tom Davis to run in 2008.

Exactly who is Mychele Brickner influential with?

  11. Teleopinion? Haha April 7, 2010 23:14 pm

Losing to Gerry Connolly or losing to Sharon Bulova? Connolly is 10 times tougher than Bulova. Apparently the voters didnt care who Pat’s daddy was when they chose Bulova in 09.

Maybe not about his lineage, but Herrity definitely struck a chord with many voters, since he only lost by 1% in Fairfax and won the 11th district portion 55%-45%.

Oh shit, sorry dude. I didn’t see that you were a paid troll, my bad. Please continue with your talking points; I’ll just wait here until someone with a meaningful point posts again.

Herrity is a pompous extension of Tom Davis. He purports to fix problems, but he’s part of the political elite class that created the problems in the first place. If he wants to fix problems, he has a chance to undo the doo doo in his own back yard.

Has Herrity ever created a job besides hire a string of campaign managers? Hardly. Has he ever started a business? Hardly.

Tom Davis’s moderate schemes caught up with him. He lost his conservative base, so he bailed before lost at the ballot box. So, he’s trying to stay in the game by creating a surrogate who claims to be a conservative. Davis and Herrity; those two can’t even appear in public together for fear that the voters will connect the dots.

  15. VA Blogger April 9, 2010 18:45 pm

Sandy, you should check your facts. Herrity has been a CFO for small businesses for the past 25 years. In his past two years on the Board of Supervisors, he has been the conservative voice leading on cutting spending and reducing taxes.

There’s zero basis for your knee-jerk paranoia that he’s part of some mythical “political elite”, especially since apparently your only proof of that is that he doesn’t appear in public with Tom Davis. Hardly a fact-based approach, wouldn’t you say?

  16. PWConservative April 9, 2010 22:18 pm

It’s important to note that this poll was taken in early march before healthcare and before Fimian went up on the radio. As for Herrity’s conservatism, having the government apply pesticide to deer in order to control lymes disease is hardly a small government position to take. I would need a lot of convincing to vote for him, even if it were the general election candidate.

  17. Sandy C April 9, 2010 23:47 pm

    So VA Blogger,
Here’s some facts. Herrity has never started a business. He has never created a job. Being the CFO of a small business is what most people do with an Intuit Quickbook suite. So, what we have is a walking, talking Quickbook application with Tom Davis behind the curtain pecking at the keyboard.

  18. VA Blogger April 10, 2010 00:49 am

Sandy, you make it seem as if anyone can walk off the street and become a CFO. Rather than inventing reasons to dislike someone because you were fed meaningless talking points, why don’t you try to educate yourself about someone who’s going to be the nominee regardless of what drivel you were misled about.

PWConservative, if your dislike of his position on lyme disease overrides his position on lower taxes and cutting spending, you’re more than welcome to vote for Gerry Connolly and Nancy Pelosi. They’d certainly welcome your support of their liberal agenda.

  19. Dennis April 10, 2010 10:31 am

I’m tired of all this campaign sign pollution. Herrity’s campaign is already sprouting signs. I thought there were limits on this. My HOA prohibits signs until 30 days before an election. What’s wrong with Herrity? He should know better.

  20. Sandy C April 10, 2010 10:47 am

Dennis, Herrity’s premature signage may be part of his campaign to scare away the deer. Seriously, maybe his campaign staff is not competent, or just don’t know the rules. Either way, it certainly doesn’t reflect well on the CFO.

  21. Another Voter April 10, 2010 12:37 pm

60 days before an election, including primaries, for public signs. Private signs are allowed determined by individual HOAs, many of which have no prohibitions of them whatsoever. Amazingly, not every HOA has identical rules.

You guys will bitch about anything. Is it really hard to educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself?

  22. Steffie G April 10, 2010 21:21 pm

Dennis, you’re right about those silly green signs. If Herrity is an environmentalist, you’d think he would not want to pollute so much.

  23. Dennis April 11, 2010 11:53 am

Wow, Herrity is going to apply pesticide to deer? Not exactly my idea of being a good caretaker of the environment. His signs may be green, but he certainly isn’t. Maybe he should just stay in local politics; not quite ready for prime time.
