Bolling: Can Trump Get a Fair Trial?

At the end of the jury selection process in former President Donald Trump’s first criminal trial in New York City, Judge Juan Merchan proclaimed “We have our jury!” But the question remains: can Trump get a fair trial in NYC?

We all know that this prosecution, over the alleged fraudulent classification of “hush money” payments to former porn star Stormy Daniels as campaign expenses, is politically motivated. After all, the District Attorney who filed the charges campaigned on a platform of targeting Trump, even after his predecessor had refused to bring similar charges because he did not feel they were justified.

But beyond that, we must ask the question: Is it possible to find 12 people who can really be impartial as it relates to Donald Trump?

And if someone truly has no predisposing opinions about Trump, they must have been living under a rock for the past eight years, which is not very reassuring either.

On the flip side, it only takes one juror to produce a hung jury or a verdict of not guilty. I suppose that’s what the Trump legal team is counting on.

If Trump is found guilty, it will be because a “jury of his peers,” consisting of 12 Manhattan residents, selected by both the prosecution and defense, unanimously agreed on his guilt.

We shall see how it all plays out in the weeks to come.
