Augusta County: Tonight’s BOS Agenda – Will Scott Seaton Be Reinstated To Committees?
The first regular meeting for Augusta County’s Board of Supervisors is tonight. The agenda includes appointments by the Board of Supervisors to committees and commissions after last week’s organizational meeting elected chair and vice-chair, and set up rules.
The big question: Will Supervisor Scott Seaton (R-Wayne) be reinstated by his fellow supervisors to the committees they stripped him from in July 2023 after he recorded a closed board session that was declared unethical by fellow supervisors, but was not illegal?
Nonetheless, supervisors refused to reinstate him in December when he asked so all eyes will be on this board to see if they continue to shun one of their own.
In what has become a ridiculously lopsided voting pattern, the Board’s six other supervisors seem determined to be a wall against Dr. Seaton who has ruffled feathers by following up on spending practices, pushed for body cameras for the safety of Augusta County law enforcement (surrounding localities already have them), asked questions about the county animal shelter by researching and questioning the legality of their fee structure, and otherwise refused to rubber-stamp issues.
The hypocrisy of the Board turning a blind eye to actions by other supervisors is becoming all too glaring. Seaton won reelection with 67 percent of the vote, and his colleagues were not punished by the Republican Committee (for recruiting a candidate to run against the Republican candidate) or the Board (talk about unethical).
However, there still has been no indication of reaching out to work together from the other six supervisors.

Scott Seaton is not mentioned. Want to lay odds of the possibility of him being reinstated to his committees so his constituents can once again have their duly-elected supervisor representing them? If the Board doesn’t reinstate him, it sets a precedent that supervisors and not voters decide who will represent the citizens.
