It’s Thanksgiving at Bearing Drift
Thanksgiving 2020 … it’s different.
The world has changed drastically since last year at this time. We now wear face masks, stand distanced from those around us, avoid crowded spaces, sanitize our hands and everything around us, and hear daily updates on infections and deaths from this deadly global pandemic that hit our shores early in the year.
Restaurants are restricted or shuttered or eating outdoors, stores are limited, online shopping has jumped by leaps and bounds, and the hottest jobs during the holidays are with UPS, FedEx, and Amazon — all overwhelmed by the volume of packages being shipped across the land.
Some have lost jobs, some have lost businesses, some have lost friends over the mask and political battles, and an ever-growing number of Americans have lost family members, friends, and co-workers to Covid-19. There will be many empty chairs around holiday tables this season.
Yeah, it’s been a tough year.
But we still have much to be thankful for.
As an optimist, I look for the silver linings and, as editor here at Bearing Drift, I am incredibly thankful for those who make this site run.
We are a volunteer group who donate our time and talent for something we believe in — free speech without financial strings.
As some of our readers have explicitly pointed out, even as they proclaim (often for the third, fourth, fifth time) that they’re never going to read us again, we have diverse political opinions that don’t always fall lock-step with the prevailing political atmosphere within the Republican Party.
This Thanksgiving I want to take a moment to remember each and every member of Bearing Drift, including our support crew….
-Melissa Kenney, Managing Editor and Advertising Director
-Jason Kenney, IT. We don’t run without his expertise.
-Brian Schoeneman, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus and contributing writer
-Shaun Kenney, former editor and contributing writer
-Norm Leahy, former editor and content partner
-Rob Schilling, content partner

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Bearing Drift!
