Just yesterday afternoon, I noted the following about Jeb Bush dropping out of the presidential race:
The Florida Senator can expect some major names and major donors to shift over from Jeb Bush to him. However, the end of the aforementioned Bush’s campaign makes it clear that “major names and major donors” aren’t necessarily bringing voters along with them.
So now you know where I got the idea for the title of this post.
So far, the “major names” seem to be following the script. In the course of an hour, House Armed Service Committee Chairman Jeff Miller of Florida, Governor Asa Hutchison of Arkansas, and U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah endorsed Rubio.
The first post-Bush test comes tomorrow night in Nevada, and then it’s on to Super Tuesday. Will this become a flood of high-ranking elected Republican endorsements? More importantly, will the Republican electorate also come on board?
We will see, although – as much as the Rubio fan in me likes to see this – I would humbly submit that the more important Senator from Utah is the one that has been silent: Mike Lee.
