Generally, when one serves with someone, you get to know a great deal about their character and ability to get the job done. Presumably, Susan Stimpson’s time as a member of the Stafford Board of Supervisors should have cemented her reputation as the tax-cutting, hard-nosed conservative Republican she claims to be. Apparently her peers think otherwise.
Today, five Republicans of the Stafford Board of Supervisors – all of whom served with Stimpson – endorsed Speaker of the House William Howell in his re-election bid over the upstart challenger.
Speaking about the endorsement, Chairman Gary Snellings (R-Hartwood) said, “I know Bill Howell. He has done an outstanding job representing the 28th District. He is a great leader and will continue doing good for Stafford County. We are standing unified in our effort to make sure Bill is re-elected to the House of Delegates.”
Supervisor Bob Thomas (R-George Washington) added, “Bill is exactly the kind of leader we need in the House of Delegates. As a local elected official, I know how critical it is to have our voice heard in Richmond and Bill has always been willing to listen to the concerns of local leaders. I know he will continue to put Stafford County and our constituents first and I am proud to endorse him for re-election.”
“No one is more qualified to serve our community in the House of Delegates than Bill Howell,” said Supervisor Cord Sterling (R-Rock Hill). “The calm demeanor and steady leadership he has displayed over the years, as well as his proven conservative record, are evident to anyone who knows him. We are eager to support him again this year.”
Supervisor Jack Cavalier noted, “Bill is known for his high character and impeccable integrity, and he has always been willing to help his constituents on any issue, be it large or small. I am excited to join Gary, Bob, Cord and Paul in supporting Bill’s re-election effort.”
“Bill Howell delivers for the people of Stafford,” said Supervisor Paul Milde (R-Aquia). “As Delegate, Bill Howell has consistently delivered the critical resources we need to address transportation and growth, and to keep our local economy thriving. I am proud to join my fellow supervisors in supporting him.”
Ouch.
