It’s another Monday and another election year dash to the middle by Virginia’s prominent ObamaCare and EPA supporter, U.S. Senator Mark Warner.
Today’s courageous march to the middle is with respect to Ukraine.
Is it standing up to Russia? Demanding the president move forward on the Keystone Pipeline? Selling leases for oil and natural gas exploration off the coast? Stating that now is not the time for Draconian EPA measures against coal while an energy crisis looms?
Nope. Today’s Warner bipartisan profile in courage is to “create a law enforcement partnership between the United States and Ukraine to combat cyber-crime.”
Citing the Target scandal around the holidays, and working with Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Warner seeks to work with the Ukraine to combat the scourge of internet pilferage.
Okay…cynicism aside – cyber crime is an important issue to deal with. However, I can see the ads now, particularly after nearly every Warner release for the last month starts with ‘bipartisan’: “Mark Warner, your radical centrist, radically doing radical things to ensure everything stays in the middle.”
Here’s just a mere sampling:
* A bipartisan group of senators is urging the FDA to provide further clarity and transparency in its policy regarding medical mobile apps
* U.S. Sens. Warner & Hoeven Write President Obama, Urge Raising Energy Security Issues at Next Week’s EU Summit
* Sens. Warner & Ayotte Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Eliminate Unecessary Gov’t Reports
First, NRSC – where the heck are you? I thought you wanted to take the Senate back…so, how come all the GOP love for Mr. Middle?
Second, and most importantly, where was this for the past five years? Where was this when – and still – House legislation sits languishing in Harry Reid’s office, never to see the light of day because Democratic senators, like Warner, fail to demand a fair discussion on the floor?
Third, where was Senator Warner over thousands of days when the country had no budget?
Finally, on this fourth anniversary of ObamaCare in the sixth year of Warner’s term, why didn’t he vote against the program?
Radical centrist indeed. Don’t believe the hype.
