You know, in the real world… we kick the tires first before we buy the car.
…but the used car salesmen in the Democratic caucus would rather we go ahead and audit as a precondition of actually signing on the line which is dotted — incurring a $7 billion debt to tide things over while Virginians have the elephant crammed down their throats.
“We are listening to the business community, and we’ve heard them say, ‘How about compromising on the issue of audits?’?” McEachin, D-Henrico County, told reporters Thursday afternoon. “And many of us here today are prepared to compromise on the quadrennial audits that they suggest. Not delaying marketplace Virginia, but doing the quadrennial audits every four years.”
House Republicans, who favor a two-year audit of state Medicaid services that could cost as much as $1 million, welcomed Senate Democrats’ openness to audits.
They remain opposed to approving a budget bill paving the way for expansion, however.
How’s about we audit first… then sort out the details, eh?
