Rasmussen Reports released its Virginia gubernatorial polling results on Friday, and they show Democrat Terry McAuliffe with a seven point advantage over Ken CuccinelliL
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Virginia Voters finds McAuliffe with 45% support to Cuccinelli’s 38%. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, while 10% remain unsure.
The poll has a three-point margin of error.
Bottom line: Ken Cuccinelli needs to find another gear.
Looking back in time a bit, at roughly this point in the 2009 gubernatorial campaign, Rasmussen showed Bob McDonnell with a nine-point lead over Creigh Deeds. McDonnell won by 17.5 points.
In 2005’s contest between Jerry Kilgore and Tim Kaine, Kilgore had a seven-point lead in a Washington Post poll. Kaine went on to win by just over five points.
