An era ends. A new one begins
“These halls have a special place in my heart,” Beirne said as he led an impromptu tour of a hallway photo gallery in which nearly every Benedictine graduate is pictured. “My grandfather walked these same halls. My father, my uncles, my cousins. My sons have walked these halls. I can duck into a room, and I know my grandfather took Latin here.”
Beirne’s grandfather was in the first class when the school opened in 1911. And his youngest son, Jonathan, is going to take a new step for the family next year: He’s following the school out of the Museum District to its new home in Goochland County, where he will be a senior.
Worth reading today. If only we had more schools like this across Virginia.
