Kermit Gosnell will spend the rest of his life in jail, not for the many, many lives he ended prior to birth, but for the ones he ended just after birth.
Some Australians think that’s a shame.
These Down Under Dumdums think that a woman should have the right to choose to end their babies’ lives even after it is born. From The Journal of Medical Ethics, “After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?”:
“We claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be.”

“Although fetuses and newborns are not persons, they are potential persons because they can develop, thanks to their own biological mechanisms, those properties which will make them ‘persons’ in the sense of ‘subjects of a moral right to life’: that is, the point at which they will be able to make aims and appreciate their own life.”
WOW! These abortion defenders honestly say that any baby not old enough to appreciate his life is ready for the knife!
It gets worse.
“The alleged right of individuals (such as fetuses and newborns) to develop their potentiality, which someone defends, is over-ridden by the interests of actual people (parents, family, society) to pursue their own well-being because, as we have just argued, merely potential people cannot be harmed by not being brought into existence. Actual people’s well-being could be threatened by the new (even if healthy) child requiring energy, money and care which the family might happen to be in short supply of.”
In other words, if baby food makes it tough to pay the cell phone bill, these “ethicists” suggest tossing the baby in the garbage and snapping a picture of it with your iPhone.
Normally, we would hope that our Constitution would guard against such things, but with the liberal wing of the Supreme Court arguing that abortion, a word not found anywhere in the Constitution, is a fundamental right, but the “right to keep and bear arms” is not, we can’t pretend that they won’t contort the document to say whatever they wish.
Abortion defenders know this. They defend abortion at any moment of pregnancy. They are currently lobbying against a ban on late-term abortions.
They also know that they lose, and lose badly, if they actually talk about abortion. Instead, they call it “women’s health care” as if they are crusading for the right to pap smears. These fighters for “choice” (only once choice) still call themselves NARAL, which they never spell out anymore. It stands for the National Abortion Rights Action League. Abortion rights are the only rights they care about.
And if their side gets its way, and if the newly born can be cast aside as easily as the newly conceived simply because baby formula was expensive, which side do you think they’ll be on?
