Tito “the Builder” Munoz, a Republican activist who rose to prominence as a campaign surrogate in the 2008 presidential race, targets Stewart in a new robocall, calling the Prince William County supervisor a tax hiker trying to mislead voters about his record.
“He says he’s a friend of taxpayers. But just last year, he has raised our taxes here in Prince William County,” says Munoz, who ran for state Senate in 2011, in the robocall sponsored by the Committee for Checks and Balances for Economic Growth.
Lesson #1: DO NOT MESS WITH TITO MUNOZ.
In the past week, Stewart has weathered charges from conservative bloggers that he is responsible for several anonymous attacks on fellow GOP candidates Scott Lingamfelter and Pete Snyder.
Although suspicion has centered on Stewart, he vehemently denies any involvement.
…but at least Tito’s not a liar, right?
Tito Munoz was involved in a process that saved a number of trailer owners from having their property condemned. Munoz was also favorite of 2008 Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin, and the architect of Tito PAC.
Lesson #2? DO NOT MESS WITH TITO MUNOZ.
In other words, Tito Munoz has proven himself to be a bigger fish than some folks ever imagined.
This, coupled with Scott Lingamfelter’s strong words regarding the attack ads, is going to have a major impact on Stewart’s ability to survive during the convention process.
