It passed with little notice over the weekend, but Virginia’s Libertarian party has officially nominated its candidate for governor: Robert Sarvis.
His campaign is still in the midst of gathering petition signatures, but as the article from Ballot Access News notes, if that effort is successful, Sarvis will be the first LP gubernatorial candidate on the general election ballot since 2001.
Can or will such a candidacy make a difference in November? Doubtful. But it’s nice to have a choice — particularly when the current state of the campaign between the major party candidates is stuck somewhere between “trivia” and “nonsense.”
