I mean, let the cognitive dissonance of this statement resonate for a good 30 seconds first… before you move along:
Senator McEachin (R-Henrico) continued, “We have no business telling people how they should spend their own money. As a conservative you would think Gov. McDonnell would know that.”
…and what — pray tell? — does Senator McEachin take exception with? The overreaching arm of federal bureaucracy? Perhaps the fact that Obamacare is driving up the cost of healthcare? Or perhaps its the myriad of panels and health care rationing this new federal overreach is imposing?
Naw… it’s abortion!
“This is Republican hypocrisy put into practice again”, said Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Donald McEachin (D-Henrico). “Gov. McDonnell is intruding into the world of the private market place and contracts by mandating what individuals and private insurance companies can agree to cover. He’s is overreaching yet again on social issues.”
Hey… y’all hear that sound?
Not to be outdone, Senator Barbara Favola (D-People’s Republic of Arlington) just had to chime in…
“Women who want the option of abortion coverage and are able to pay for such an option with private dollars will be denied this service as a result of the Governor’s action. We cannot permit this right-wing ideology to dictate personal medical decisions. It is very demeaning to women, to their physicians, and to all Virginians. Virginians do not want a woman’s constitutionally protected liberties to be infringed upon by politicians–when that happens everybody’s liberties are at risk.” (emphasis added)
I just have to recap this one, for the sake of the audience out here.
(1) So you want the option of an abortion,
(2) YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO GET ONE…
(3) …but you’re upset that the Virginia health care exchange won’t offer a plan that includes abortion coverage insurers.
(4) So um… yeah… that happens…
(5) …and you still have your money.
(6) …and Planned Abortionhood is still convincing young mothers that babies ruin lives and stuff.
(6) …um… are we really talking about this?
Bottom line? Abortion wants to put its snout in the Virginia health care exchange (an imposition of the federal government, mind you) — and Governor McDonnell just kicked abortion in the face.
