If you are a subscriber to our newsletter, “Dead Reckoning”, you know that I’ve been documenting the hyperventilation in the Senate Democratic caucus, at least as portrayed by one Joshua Karp, their spokesperson, for awhile.
Today is no different.
This morning, Senate Democrats will gather to document yet another GOP “attack” on something. This one will be Voting ID. I’m sure we’re going to hear references to Jim Crow, poll taxes, et al.
More importantly, for Mr. Karp, his message is being diluted with his continuous references to “overreach” and “attacks.” He may feel under assault, but that’s likely self-inflicted. I mean, Democrats are in the minority and have to go along with the majority’s agenda, no? So, perhaps the DPVA needs to win a few more elections than Republicans.
That said, I see no blood being spilled under Washington’s statue in Mr. Jefferson’s capitol building. Robert E. Lee doesn’t have bullet holes taking chinks out of his statue (unless that’s routine Richmond gang violence). So, the hyperbole from the Democrats might be, dare I say, a bit extreme?
Here are some other ways to phrase what he’s trying to say without making reporters and pundits roll their eyes….
“GOP seeks to limit voting rights to everyone who is counted by the state”
“Those with no access to DMV will be most affected by GOP legislation”
“If you aren’t registered with the state for something, you can’t vote”
“If you don’t have a mailbox, you won’t be able to vote”
“If you never paid taxes, you can’t vote”
“GOP wants to eliminate voter fraud, Democrats won’t allow that”
See…was that so hard, Josh?
