Mrs. Henrietta Allen, Widow of Redskins Coach George Allen, Passes Away

Picked up via Facebook from State Senator Steve Martin’s page:

Please remember the family of Mrs. Henrietta (Etty) Allen, widow of Coach George Allen, in your prayers.   She was the matriarch of a remarkable American family and will be missed by all who have knew her.

Certainly a loss felt not only by Virginians, but by Redskins fans as well.  From the obituary shared:

Henrietta “Etty ” L. Allen, widow of pro football Hall of Fame coach George H. Allen, after a long, spirited life, passed away from natural causes in her home in Los Angeles County, California.

The daughter of Felix and Eujenie Lumbroso, vivacious “Etty” was born and raised in Tunisia. After WWII, Etty and George Allen met and married in Sioux City, Iowa. Their journey in life took them through the years from Iowa to California, Illinois, Virginia and back to California. Etty is survived by their four children (George, Gregory, Bruce and Jennifer), ten grand children (Trevor, Jesse, Tyler, Forrest, Brooke, George, Mikayla, Roman, Deacon and Anton) and her sister Liliane (and nephews Jeff and Colette). Funeral services will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Freedom4U.

R.I.P. to a lady who certainly gave a great deal to both the Commonwealth of Virginia and to the Washington Redskins organization.
