Looks like the Boy from New York City has seen the lights go out on Broadway.
The Virginian-Pilot and Politico reports that House Democrats are cutting their ad buys against Republican Representative Scott Rigell and taking it somewhere they might have a shot at winning. Democrat Paul Hirschbiel, the rich boy who left Virginia for New York City long ago, has been going absolutely nowhere in Virginia’s Second District. Democrat ads, lacking in truth and obviously so, trying to attack Rigell haven’t done anything, and poor Paul is stuck here to fend for himself.
“the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reduced commercial buys in four, Republican-friendly districts, each of which are seen as uphill for the party, sources told POLITICO. The shifts are the broadest since the DCCC began its advertising campaign last month.
The House Democratic campaign arm has reduced its investments against GOP Rep. Scott Rigell, who represents Virginia Beach and part of Norfolk, and GOP Rep. Vern Buchanan of Florida, who earlier this year was cleared in an ethics committee investigation of his finances. The DCCC also scaled back on purchases in Indiana’s 2nd District and North Dakota’s At-Large seat, both of which are vacant.”
See, Paul, when your own Party decides to cut bait in your campaign and they admit to the press it’s because it’s unlikely they’ll win, your race is essentially over. Scott Rigell has Republicans and Independents in his corner and, quite frankly, the Democrats aren’t exactly fuming about him.
Look over your shoulder at the people who encouraged you to run in the first place. They’re the ones holding the saws after urging you to walk out on this limb.
