Ambassador To Libya And Three Staffers Killed On 9/11

On September 11 of each year for the past 11 years Americans have paused to reflect on the sacrifices made by our fellow Americans in 2001 and after.

This year, we have another Islamic outrage. An attack on our embassy is an attack on American soil.

(Reuters) – The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff were killed in a rocket attack on their car, a Libyan official said, as they were rushed from a consular building stormed by militants denouncing a U.S.-made film insulting the Prophet Mohammad.

As angry as that may make you, Please sit down for the next outrage.

America’s first response to the violence, before the muders? From the U.S. Embassy in Cairo; It’s our fault for having a first amendment in the first place , which has been abused by some film-makers. (paraphrased by this author) Read it for yourself.

U.S.Embassy Condemns Religious Incitement

September 11, 2012

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

In the event the link above disappears, Enjoy this screen cap. Is it time for another apology tour?

I call on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to strongly rebuke, if not a recall of, the Ambassador to Egypt.

Another statement from the White House must be made as well. Apologies for the movie at the center of all this do not suffice.

If our Ambassador to Egypt is not incompetent, he’s certainly not very well supervised, Mrs. Clinton.

UPDATE: President Obama has issued this statement; “I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens,” Mr. Obama said. “I have directed my administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe.”

UPDATE 2:

WASHINGTON – Intelligence experts and U.S. government officials are starting to view the attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others in Benghazi as a coordinated attack.

Several sources have said they believe it was a planned operation and have pointed out several developments that seem to support the possibility.

The President has ratcheted up security at embassies worldwide because of the incident.
