1964. I had just turned 9 and the most despicable political ad ever had just aired. The infamous Daisy Girl ad.
Perhaps, I’ve been told, Jefferson and Madison, if they had the technology, would’ve produced something just as vicious. I don’t know. I’m old but not that old.
Now it’s 2012, 48 years later, and an “Obama supporter” has finally topped that one.
Mitt Romney caused the cancer that killed the wife of an employee of Bain Capital. Or something like that.
There’s a problem with that though. Actually many problems. Mitt Romney left Bain Capital about 5 years before the tragedy. Bain Capital also offered the man a complete buyout, including insurance, before the bankruptcy. And the unfortunate lady had insurance before she left work for medical purposes, (unrelated to the cancer).
Now it appears that the Obama campaign colluded with the PAC that produced the ad. In case you didn’t know, that’s illegal. (Yeah right. Eric Holder is all over it.) They claim to have no knowledge of the man, yet they have video of him telling the same story, and wearing the same shirt, on their website. (Sorry, no link. You have to do your own research.) I will give you this, and this though.
I’m pretty sure it’s only going to get worse. Be prepared for an intense Fall. And be really prepared to be lied to.
