Last week a Roanoke College poll showed George Allen leading Tim Kaine by 8 pts. This after weeks of Kaine hounding Allen on social issues while Allen continues to talk about jobs and the economy.
Up until this point, most polls had shown that the race continued to be a dead heat.
But 8 pts. must’ve been enough to send the MSM into shock because an NBC News/Marist poll released today says that Tim Kaine leads George Allen by 10 pts.
Somebody’s been in the corn squeezin’s again. And it’s not the fine folks at Roanoke College.
Steven Shepard at Hotline on Call tells us just a few of the things wrong with these numbers:
The NBC News/Marist Virginia poll shows a big edge for Democrats in party identification, which may explain a great deal of the discrepancies between this survey and other polls in the race. Thirty-six percent of voters surveyed said they were Democrats, while 24 percent said they were Republicans. When independents are allocated according to their leanings, 50 percent of respondents are Democrats or lean to Democrats, while 35 percent of voters identify as Republicans or Republican leaners. Democrats held a six-point party ID edge in 2008, according to exit polls.
In other words they over sampled Democrats, over sampled Northern Virginia…I could go on.
And please people, there’s just absolutely no way Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney in Virginia by 17 points.
Put quite simply, no matter how the leftists, or certain other GOP primary contenders, try to spin this, it just ain’t right.
Not right at all.
