The Republican Party of Virginia has announced a series of three Senatorial primary debates for the coming year. RPV Chairman Pat Mullins’ letter to the candidates states, in part:
All candidates who properly qualify for the June 12, 2012 Republican primary will be invited to participate. This criteria for participation is the fairest that I can think of.
It is critical that we allow the voters of Virginia to hear from all of you about how our shared conservative principles can solve the problems our nation faces. I strongly encourage all of you to participate in these debates.
o The first debate will be held the second week of April in Roanoke.
o The second debate will be held the first week of May in Northern Virginia
o The third debate will be held the third week of May in Hampton Roads.
Specific details about dates, times, and rules for each debate will be announced in the weeks ahead. All candidates who qualify for the June 12, 2012 Republican primary under Code of Virginia section § 24.2-522 will be allowed to participate.
So get on the ballot, and you’re in. That’s as fair as can be.
