If your bracket is like mine and President Obama, you are most likely experiencing a meltdown. Let’s review what happened over the weekend. UConn, Kentucky, Butler, and VCU are all headed to the Final Four, and some surprises occurred during the Elite 8 games. Kentucky walloped UNC, UConn narrowly defeated Arizona, and VCU humiliated Kansas (which makes this the focus of today’s Your Daily Bracket segment).
Despite smack talk from Marcus Morris this did not deter VCU from beating the Kansas Jayhawks, 71-61 in San Antonio. VCU used great offensive and defensive prowess to dominate the Jayhawks’ “twin towers” of Marcus and Markieff Morris. It was a great game that provided plenty of excitement. VCU will now become the third 11th ranked seed to enter the Final Four (LSU was the first in 1986 and George Mason in 2006). VCU will now face Butler, who has also surprised many this year with their strong presence on the court. Butler is an equally aggressive team, which could pair well with VCU, who relies heavily on strength and speed. This will be a blockbuster game. GO RAMS!
As for other matchups, Kentucky will face UConn. UConn has been surprising many this year, and with their aggressive playing style, it will match up well with Kentucky. The Wildcats have definitely been bringing their “A” game lately, and in the recap from both the UNC and Ohio State games, they are a powerhouse. Another blockbuster game.
Right now, anything goes. Since my bracket is toast, I will make only one prediction: The winner of the VCU/Butler game (don’t want to jinx anything) will face Kentucky in the National Championship.
