Couple of quick thoughts on today’s bloggers day at the Capitol.
– Sen. Cuccinelli recognized us bloggers in the Senate chambers today as “rabble rousers.” Question: does that make you, our reader, rabble? In all seriousness, Cuccinelli and Bolling seemed to be working very well together on the dais. Interesting.
– McDonnell and Bolling mean business. More tomorrow.
– Great set of challengers the GOP has fielded. The Dems will definitely be felling the heat. I must have done about 10-12 podcasts today. You’ll be hearing the results of this effort soon. Barbara Comstock, Tag Grearson, Rick Anderson, Chris Stolle, Mike Gage and more were very impressive.
– Dr. Bob Holsworth is brilliant.
– Watch out for “Project Virginia”…this grassroots content management system on steroids might just remake Virginia politics.
– It’s always great to see the faces behind the keyboard.
– There is some news from today…Bolling got very animated about the accusations being leveled at him by his convention challenger, Patrick Muldoon. More on this tomorrow. McDonnell thinks that the strings attached to federal bail-out money relating to unemployment insurance is a raw deal. He feels that funding should be returned.
– Get ready for the union onslaught here in VA. Apparently 527s will begin the negative campaign season against McDonnell tomorrow…and the Democratic primary isn’t even over yet! Obviously McDonnell’s opposition to “card check” struck a raw nerve – and all three Dem gubernatorial candidates plus Jody Wagner marching in a picket line, makes supporting the D’s easy.
– Big money starting to come in. $1 million for McDonnell from the National Governors’ Association. Half-million to McAuliffe from unions. McAuliffe’s projection of raising close to $70 million for this race is a fallacy though. According to Holsworth, McAuliffe has only been able to raise about $4 million so far.
