Joe Murray and his wife, Katie, chose to raise their daughter, Ella, in Alexandria’s Brookville-Seminary Valley neighborhood because of the great opportunities our area offers.Joe and Katie are active members of First Baptist Church of Alexandria, avid softball players–you can see them on all of Alexandria’s ball fields during the season–and supporters of the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association (DEBRA), an organization they learned about when Ella was born with this rare genetic skin disease.
Like many residents of Alexandria’s 46th district, Joe and Katie have had careers tied to the Federal government. Katie worked on health and education issues in the U.S. Senate before joining the American Diabetes Association. Joe currently works part-time for the U.S. House of Representatives while attending his third year at Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.
One of eight children, Joe was born in Pittsburgh and raised in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Rutgers University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics.
Joe and Katie know first hand the many blessings that Alexandria and Fairfax County offer its citizens–wonderful people, a rich history and interesting career choices. But, like you, they also understand the area’s challenges–sky-rocketing taxes and a transportation infrastructure that that can’t keep up with our needs.
As your delegate in Richmond Joe will work to preserve our area’s blessings while addressing the challenges in a way that makes the most sense for the citizens of the 46th district.
