Chavez

It is the Hugo Chavez show and you can find it on PBS. Then, you can watch Alo Presidente – his own TV show – or read the transcripts.

For some odd reason, I happen to think that if Hugo Chavez wants his TV show to air in the US, then he (or the “people” of Venezuala) should pay for it. I don’t even want a fraction of my tax dollars going to a puff up a murderous dictator who – yes, I’ll say it – pals around with terrorists. But then again, maybe the Venezuelans want to get rid of the guy and he’s doing his best to buy a few friends before that happens?

His government is anti-semitic.

He is radically anti-American and has opened his country for terrorist training camps.

He sells oil to and buys combat planes from the People’s Republic of China (yeah, that’s the people who sell the Sudanese butchers planes to shoot down their own people).

So, I was just wondering, why is the US taxpayer funded (partially) PBS, giving Chavez a platform for his anti-American radicalism? The PBS producer has opined that Chavez is NOT a dictator. Am I way out on a limb here?

Is this just an innocent documentary about an interesting person? it’s not a hit piece – it strikes me as a bit of a puff piece… what do you think?

Here is what one commenter had to say:

Dear FRONTLINE,

Perhaps Chavez, has some flaws, is not the most polishedpolitician in the world, but Chavez heart is in the right place.

He stands along with his people, the poor, the working class.Chavez spread the wealth among all the people. In the barrios, where there was no electricity, under Chavezthere was light, where there was no professional medical attention, suddenly there were doctors sent by Castro, in the poorestparts of Venezuela.Education was not just for the wealthy, the rich anymore. The sons and daughers of the cooks, shoeshiners, street vendors, unemployed were learning to read and write and had a shotat a University education.I love the way the ordinarypeople in Venezuela surged out ontothe streets demanding “Queremos ver a Chavez”.

If only we had a Hugo Chavez in the USA.

Everybody would be better off.
