Virginia Beach Sheriff Ken Stolle has officially endorsed Del. Scott Taylor in his bid for congress against current U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes.
Stolle wrote a letter to Forbes in January that Forbes should not run for congress in the 2nd District.
Here is Stolle’s full endorsement:
“On a whole host of issues, our country is headed in the wrong direction. We need a Congressman committed to reforming how Congress works and to solving the important issues facing our families. Scott Taylor’s military experience as a Navy SEAL and Iraq War veteran and his leadership skills as a Delegate lead me to conclude that Scott Taylor is the person we need representing families in the Second Congressional District. Scott Taylor will go to Washington and work to get our country headed in the right direction again.”
Stolle continued, “If tradition continues and Scott Taylor is elected and selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, there is no doubt in my mind he will hit the ground running. I know Scott Taylor would work tirelessly to enhance and protect our military assets in the Hampton Roads region. Scott’s military experience and his wartime service will give him instant credibility with other members of Congress and with senior military and civilian leaders. Scott’s commitment to reforming Congress, getting our economy growing and tackling our nation’s budget deficit are also worthy of our support.”
The Stolle family is ingrained in Virginia Beach politics. In addition to the former State Senator and now Sheriff Ken Stolle being elected in the city, his brothers also hold office. Chris is a state delegate and Colin is the commonwealth’s attorney. Receiving the sheriff’s endorsement in the largest city of the commonwealth and the district is a significant achievement for Taylor.
