VPOD: Dr. Ella Ward, Democratic Candidate, Fourth Congressional District

Imagine having to be relegated as second class because of the color of your skin?

It’s not that long ago, folks. And Dr. Ella Ward, who has a Ph.D., a couple of Master’s degrees, and a passion for service lived through it. In fact, it’s what started her in public service.

Born, raised, and leading in what has been the Fourth Congressional District for decades, Ward has done nothing but serve – this includes a three-decade stint in the Portsmouth school district as an educator. She’s also been a two-term Chesapeake School Board member, three-term City Councilwoman, and, yes, even Chair of the Chesapeake Democratic Party (~sigh~…no one is right all the time).

As for her priorities, it’s not surprising that education and healthcare are at the top. But she also is willing to fight for veterans and the military. Something Hampton Roads residents certainly should consider.
