VPOD: Ken Longo, former Virginia Beach GOP chairman
Ken Longo just concluded six eventful years as chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia Beach. During his term, he excommunicated Mayor Will Sessoms, tried to hold the party together following the slating incident of 2014, and saw one of the members censored for a comment about a former member of Congress. But he also led the party in capturing all partisan elected offices and guiding the transition following the retirements of stalwarts such as Del. Bob Tata, Del. Bob Purkey and Sen. Jeff McWaters.
In this podcast, Longo not only reflects on his tenure, but also gives us his perspective of Saturday’s mass meeting that elected his successor, Tina Mapes. And, of course, he discusses the future of the GOP in Virginia’s most populous city.
