Jeff Schapiro delighted in his opinion piece on the disarray and internal fighting within the Republican Party in Virginia, this time in regards to the so-called ‘incumbent rule’, a General Assembly statute allowing the incumbent to pick the nomination method in their respective legislative districts. This has generated particular interest in the 24th State Senate District, where Emmett Hanger faces multiple opponents. Those opponents, including members of the legislative district committee has sent a letter to the State Board of Elections to fight for a convention, though Hanger hasn’t made a reelection decision as of yet, nor picked a nomination process.
In his ‘reporting’, Schapiro highlights the upcoming race between House Speaker Bill Howell and former LG nomination seeker Susan Stimpson as another race likely to see a judicial process:
While Howell is likely to opt for a primary, allies of both candidates say they wouldn’t be surprised if the issue went to court.
Susan Stimpson was having none of that today:
@RTDSchapiro I welcome a state run primary. No court case. Just a case before the people. http://t.co/xMlikN4c95 via @RTDNews

Sounds like it’s a primary in the 28th House District.
