By pure chance, I came across this listing on eBay with the all-caps headline “2013 MARK OBENSHAIN FOR VIRGINIA ATTORNEY GENERAL FOLDOUT BROCHURE.”
The item seems to have been listed within the past 24 hours, not even two weeks after Republican Mark Obenshain conceded to his Democratic opponent, Mark Herring,in a narrow election contest for Virginia’s Attorney General that resulted in a recount.
The starting bid for this “unique” item — there must have been thousands printed and distributed — is $2.99. Shipping and handling costs an additional $2.25 and the auction ends on January 3, 2014, at 1:38 a.m. PST.
If it sells for more than the minimum bid, I’m sure there are boxes and boxes of similar brochures sitting somewhere in Harrisonburg that could be sold one-by-one to retire Mark Obenshain’s 2013 campaign debt.
In fact, this may turn out to be a whole new method of raising campaign funds. (On second thought, no, it won’t.)
