Allen gets some tea party support
By | Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011 | Catch-All

GOP Senate candidate George Allen has announced that he, too, has tea party support:

…George Allen received the endorsement of over 100 Tea Party Patriots throughout the Commonwealth, led by Coby Dillard, Co-Founder of the Hampton Roads Tea Party, Laura Alcorn, Co-Founder of the Richmond Patriots, Strother Smith, President of the 10th Amendment Foundation, Ben Marchi, former State Director of Americans for Prosperity and conservative Tea Party activists Tito Munoz and Carl Tate.

There is a list of the tea party endorsers at the link — and I’m sure the quibbles will be many (in his role with AFP, Marchi all but turned the organization into an Allen front).

I can appreciate Allen’s effort here, but his list isn’t as impressive as the one Jamie Radtke has assembled. Now one would expect Radtke to have a long and varied list of tea party and patriot group supporters, given her leadership role in the statewide organization. While that support has yet to translate into movement in the polls, it’s quite real and impossible to dismiss.

Still, that Allen found it necessary to produce such an endorsement list, and do so now, is quite interesting. Is he exploiting a wedge, or trying to create one? Is it all just cover for the coming debates? Or is it benign?

No offense, but Ben Marchi is not a tea party leader or activist. He is a political consultant who has worked for Allen for years. This list seems to have few actual Tea Party leaders on it. I would think Allen would wait till he could have actual leaders to point to before releasing this list.

Maybe he did wait until he could have actual leaders to point to before releasing the list, and this is as good as it is going to get.

Willie take a good look at some of the Radtke Tea party endorsers.I sure wouldn’t want them helping me.One has admitted to having a homosexual affair with a underage girl. One has started a blog called send a rope, along with many outrageous comments.Im sure Radtke is proud of these endorsements.

It just keeps getting better here in Jeffersons Virginia. Marchi piled on tea party folks after the shad planking at the Virginia Diner with some stuff I just can’t make up but you will have to wait until october. This Marchi character a real good endorsement for Allen! Laughing so hard I have to go clean myself up.. thanks Norm.

Radtke’s, Donners and Jacksons odds just keep improving. I am maxed out to the radtke campaign and wish I could double it up in honor of this news.

James, you haven been given false information about Marchi, he is a solid guy and I will stand up for him any time. Ben and I might not always agree on everything but Marchi is a conservative first.

Steve, Marchi sure pooped in some tea party leaders cornflakes bud. I am calling him out. Its open season on rinos.

Anybody endorsing RINO Allen at this point in time is not a true Patriot,,, he is a RINO in a Patriot outfit,,, and it’s certainly time for “THE” Tea Party to come out and disavow any connection between this bunch and themselves…

I am confused. Did George Allen win the Republican Nomination yesterday or just get some tea party support??
Why does George Allen even need the tea party support if his money already has it in the bag for him? Hail King George! Kaine beat him before the teaparty came to be. Celebrity politics and loyality for political clout lost us the last election. newsflash…most tea party or not Republican first. Deal with it or die.

Kaine beat him before the teaparty came to be ? Really ? When did that happen ? Did we miss something ?

  14. Aaron G November 24, 2011 12:55 pm

Turbo, Marchi is a RINO? I never heard anything so funny. Marchi has been called too conservative in most circles. You need to get a clue.

  15. James "turbo" Cohen November 24, 2011 14:01 pm

Aaron, Marchi sure showed Mr. Lloyd some love after his Excellency King George come out to press flesh with his homies. “Rino” fits Marchi like a leather body sock.
