Could Sen. John Miller’s questionable job be his undoing?
By | Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 | Politics

Sen. John Miller’s new job at Orion Air is attracting a lot of attention. Local news coverage has focused on the new job for the Senator that started the same month a huge tax break that Miller cosponsored went into effect.

This TV ad hit the airwaves recently and it is devastating.

Miller’s Senate district is in the same neck of the woods of former Delegate Phil Hamilton’s. Voters know the story very well, and the parallels are not lost on them. Miller’s sort of chicanery does NOT play on the Peninsula.

Amazingly poor judgement on the part of Sen. John Miller. I wonder if quitting the job at Orion would even save him now.

You’ve got a point. Our election roundup tags that as the “nagging question” about Miller’s campaign. (The naggins question about Chohany’s campaign being is he more than Tommy Norment’s sock puppet.) They haven’t handled this well. I’ve been in that business, I understand “deny, deny and make countera accusations,” but the counter accusations have to make sense. They basically let Norment call Miller a serial violater of the conflict of interest rules (irony alert), without responding.

Senator Miller is a man of integrity. The bill for Orion was sponsored by Senator Norment. In the course of Orion’s opening, Miller applied for, was offered, and accepted a job for which he was qualified.

And how long was that job open? Was it advertised? How many people were interviewed for it?

Certainly in this economy, a job like that would’ve had plenty of applicants, right?

    Carolyn,

are you seriously suggesting Miller had nothing to do with a bill he was the co-patron of? If so, please tell me how he can possibly be worth re-electing.
