Dems Confirm: Virginia Dem Senators Begged Obama to Stay Away
By D.J. Spiker | Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 | Politics, VirginiaA Politico article today highlighting the lack of excitement on President Obama’s bus tour through Virginia brings up something that RPV has been hammering the Democrat incumbents on their relations to Obama. Originally, PBO was scheduled to tour Danville and Fredericksburg, in addition to Emporia and Hampton. Danville and Fredericksburg both have top State Senate races, with Senator Bill Stanley taking on incumbent Roscoe Reynolds and well-funded challenger Bryce Reeves taking on incumbent Edd Houck.
After announcing the itinerary, RPV highlighted the Democrats scramble to distance themselves from Obama and his failed policies and lack of job creation. RPV has been top-notch for the past month, hammering each incumbent for their fleeing. Until today, it was RPV doing a great job highlighting the scurrying.
Today? Democrats confirm.
The White House originally considered dispatching the president to Danville and the Fredericksburg area, but they backed off for reasons that remain unclear. One Democratic operative active in state races said it was at the behest of candidates for the Virginia Legislature who want to distance themselves from Obama.
This RPV press release is spot on:
Panic! Obama Cancels Disastrous Itinerary, Aims for District with No GOP Challenger
I think we know what that high-pitched shrieking sound coming from the Democrat headquarters was the other day.
That was the reaction of Sens. Edd Houck, Roscoe Reynolds, John Miller and Del. Ward Armstrong when they found out that President Obama was headed to their districts for a visit.
Initial reports showed the President coming to Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Danville, and Newport News.
But after an apparent freak-out by the candidates and state party – maybe over Obama’s dismal Virginia numbers in the new Qunnipiac University poll – the President has kindly changed his plans – and is holding events only in districts where his massive unpopularity can’t damage fellow Democrats.
RPV has been one of the most effective party structures in the country and they continue to hammer the Democrats. With three weeks to go until election day, there is little doubt on either side that Republicans will be taking back the State Senate while adding to their overwhelming majority in the House of Delegates.

So, a “democratic operative” told you that some Virginia politico told THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to change his schedule and he did?
And you believed them?
