Virginia GOP decides on primary in 2013
By JR Hoeft | Saturday, October 1st, 2011 | PoliticsThe Republican Party of Virginia voted 51-28 in favor of a primary to decide Republican nominees for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general in 2013 today.
Preliminary candidates include Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling for governor. Outside of that, it’s anyone’s guess.
Rumored candidates for LG include State Senator Mark Obenshain, State Senator Jeff McWaters, Del. Tim Hugo, and Prince William County Supervisor Corey Stewart.
Rumored candidates for AG include current AG Ken Cuccinelli – in which case nobody else likely runs. Some say he is deciding whether or not to run for governor or U.S. Senator in 2014. If he does not run for Attorney General, possible AG candidates include Del. Rob Bell, former candidate David Foster, and Obenshain.

I notice that the SCC agenda also included the call for the 2012 state convention. Can anyone provide the dates and location for next year’s state convention?
It seems to me that it is a tad too early to determine the nomination method in 2013. I, for one, am extremely disappointed that they decided to select a primary.
