Bob Turner Wins in NY-9
By | Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 | Politics

Republican Bob Turner is victorious in his race to win the special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Despite what the Democratic analysts may say, this is an upset. A Republican has not won this area since before World War 2. Interestingly, there is evidence that a key factor in Turner’s victory may be the district’s Orthodox Jewish community who were increasingly frustrated by both the Democratic candidate Weprin’s support of homosexual marriage and the President’s hostile attitude towards Israel.

Could this race be an indicator of a future trend?

    This is an encouraging sign.

And I’ll say what needs to be said here.. Bob Turner won in a region of NYC that is dominated by socially conservative orthodox jews that have broken historic shackels to the dems.. This election is organized revenge against the NYC dem party. If an awakening can happen there, a conservative revival can happen everywhere.

DNC Chairwoman says this is a “very difficult district for Democrats.” http://hotair.com/headlines/archives/2011/09/14/debbie-wasserman-schultz-ny-9-is-a-very-difficult-district-for-democrats/

NY-9 has elected a Democrat in every election since 1922. If this district is a “very difficult district for Democrats,” then EVERY district in America is now a “very difficult district for Democrats.”

Reagans conquest was the south. Dems were pounded down by their own party and the southern dems burned by Carter figured out the new democratic party was the wrong party for them. Thanks Carter.

Northeasterners, especially Jews wandering in the harsh deserted wasteland of Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s socialist paradise, are the new southerners. Thanks Obama.

Turbo: Good comment about Jews being the new American south. I never thought of it that way, and I hope you’re right.

The difference, however, is that southerners were always conservative, and the Democrat Party left them. American Jews, by contrast, remain liberal, although pro-Israel. I believe they will abandon Obama in 2012 because of his hostility to Israel, but they will abandon not the Democrat Party generally. The next time a liberal Democrat who is perceived to be pro-Israel, like Bill Clinton, comes along, the Jewish community will return to the Democrat fold.

In order to truly effect a party change among American Jews, we will need to persuade them to change their political philosophy. This is going to be difficult and slow to achieve, but I do see some movement among younger Jews. Nevertheless, we have a long way to go.

NY – 9 may be even bigger than Scott Brown.

Oy Vasemear, another one for Obummer.. An ancient yiddish proverb: What you don’t see with your eyes, don’t invent with your mouth.

    Steven:

I recommend you actually get out of Lynchburg and actually visit New York City. It’ll do you some good to get out of Lynchburg and see the outside world every now and then.

    “Turbo”, Steven, et. al:

My partner Eddie is from New York City and he’ll tell you the Orthodox Jews have lived in that district for a 1000 years. If they had the power to make that district Republican they woulda done it a loooooooong time ago. Furthermore, if they had that kind of power it would’ve been a Republican stronghold for the same amount of time. NY-9 voted Republican because they realize the Obama economic plan isn’t working. Not because of any district wide anger over marriage equality in NY. If fact, I just looked up Mr. Turner’s website and there’s not one mention of marriage, abortion or any other social issue…not nary a one.

Mr. Turner won that election because of his fiscal conservative message and frustration with Obama (the same guy the district voted for in 2008 unfortunately) not because of marriage equality in NY. It’s sad to see you guys desperately trying to stretch and pull some validation from an election that clearly was NOT won on your OCD issue.

Jay, Here is another translated yiddish saying..
A good enemy is better than a bad friend (Besser a Gutter Soineh Aider a Shlecter Freint).
The dems have so wildly demonised and distorted the record and reputation of republicans collectively that opposition voting has come of age. This window of opportunity is for the gop to squander.. Don’t blow it yall.
