Bearing Drift Logo Contest
By Bearing Drift | Monday, January 31st, 2011 | Catch-AllBearing Drift is offering $250 to whoever designs the best new logo for us.
There is no requirement for what the logo should look like, other than it should be instantly recognizable when we use it as being part of the “Bearing Drift” brand.
Our current logo is this:
Over the weekend, the BD team did some brainstorming and came up with the following ideas:

About the author
Bearing Drift has been providing an online conservative voice in Virginia politics since 2004. The name describes relative motion at sea - without bearing drift, you need to move to the right to avoid a collision! If it looks like the ship-of-state is going to wreck, move right; you can't go wrong!!!

That one’s mine.
I know…it was also a test on whether images could be posted to the comments. It has absolutely zero chance of becoming our permanent logo…but thanks for playing!
I am partial to the two with the compass rose designs – prefer the 2nd one. I like the buoy [sp?] design also, but why is it _leaning to the left_??
bd-logostar-compass looks pretty good.
Although I do kind of like Brian’s “Blog or Die” one…Gasden Flag may be too identified with the Tea Party now though. Y’all aren’t all Tea Party types.
I prefer the logo with the waves but as with Conservativa wonder why the star is on the left.
The one with the waves is a compass, pointing to the right. But your point (no pun intended) is well taken.
They are all very good, but I like the current one best. It is a uniquely identifiable location with both the old and the new, and is the true gateway to this nation, where civilization was first introduced to these shores. This logo first called Bearing Drift to my attention.
Thanks, John. I will admit, I am partial to it.
I like Brian’s image of Ben Franklin’s political cartoon. Join, or Die’ is a well-known political cartoon, created by Benjamin Franklin and first published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. The cartoon became a symbol of freedom and democracy during the American Revolutionary War.

I, too, am partial to the original, but I also like the first compass with just the simple BD inside.
Hi there, I attached my design with a bunch of logos for your consideration. Hope you like the concept. If you want to ask me, don’t hesitate to drop me an e-mail.
