Yes, Virginia, redistricting’s going to take a while. As such, the General Assembly has been working on legislation to push back the typical June primaries.

  • Declaration of candidacy and petitions are to be turned in between Noon on July 5th and 5 p.m. July 15th, 2011
  • Ballots for the August primary will be available by July 27th, 2011

For independent candidates or nominees selected by other means than a primary

  • Method of selection must occur between July 22 and August 23, 2007
  • Any notice of candidacy must be filed by 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2011
