VPOD 109: State Sen. Ryan McDougle (R-4), Republican Pro Tempore
By JR Hoeft | Friday, January 28th, 2011 | Podcasts, PolicyShow notes:
State Sen. Ryan McDougle (R-Mechanicsville) provides a General Assembly update from the State Senate.
Specifically, McDougle talks transportation, state constitutional amendments (including ‘Right to Work’ and ‘Repeal’), and Sen. Janet Howell’s Privileges and Elections Committee.
McDougle discusses the politics of transportation and what can be expected from Senate Democrats on the transportation debate (read: gas tax) and the politics of Howell’s “let them eat cake” moment. He says under Republican management in the State Senate, the authority of sub-committees will be diminished.

Senator,
I appreciate your work. However, I am concerned that the State of Virginia needs, quickly I might add, to join other states to demand the federal government cease its control over the states in places like education, agriculure energy, health care, transportation, environment, illegal immigration etc. DOes that mean the federal government doesn’t play a role? No. I am saying that the states can do better. But states need to join together and press the feds by constitutional means to get federal control off the back of states and that means citizens. Stop with the political meandering and move forward with all legal means to for state rights! No CHild Left Behind is a joke and my two girls suffer in school; Health care drives up costs; illegal immigration drives up cost in health care, education, law enforcement; gas taxes need to go to roads not a general fed fund; agriculture is being suppressed by the new law; energy is controlled by an EPA out of control….its goes on and on. No more politics Senator, move the states forward against this soft tyranny.
I am not sure if this is appropreiate to put on here or not, I feel the bills that are trying to get passed against sex offenders are very wrong and should not be laws.
