VPOD 106: Sen. Mark Obenshain
By | Thursday, January 20th, 2011 | Podcasts

Show notes:
J.R. interviews Sen. Mark Obenshain (R-26).

Obenshain talks about the view from the Senate regarding the governor’s legislative agenda. Additionally, he discusses his bill to privatize ABC stores, gives kudos to Del. Bob Brink (D-48) for bringing the legislation forward in the House, and explains his reasons why he thinks privatization is a good idea (it’s not just about getting government out of the business). He also discusses how Virginia needs to study whether reforming Medicaid might be in the best interests of the state and taxpayer and he proposes an eminent domain/property rights constitutional amendment. He also relates that Democrats in the Senate are not allowing a fair hearing regarding proposed Republican legislation.
