Despite the Snow, Special Elections to Go On
By Jason Johnson | Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 | Catch-AllSnow and freezing rain are falling across Southside and Southwestern Virginia this morning, prompting the closure of most public school systems in the 8th House and 19th Senate districts. State election officials want to remind voters in those districts that despite the weather, today’s scheduled special elections will go on–even if your regular precinct is a school that is closed today. All schools that host precincts will be open for voters today.
If you need a ride to the polls, call either Habeeb and Stanley campaigns. Remember: with their notoriously low turnout, special elections can be quirky; every vote will count. To keep the 8th House and 19th Senate seats in conservative hands, don’t forget to vote…and drive safely!
