Cox Named RGA Executive Director
By | Monday, January 3rd, 2011 | Catch-All

Just four years ago, Phil Cox was generally known as the #3 right of center political consultant in Virginia. Today, Cox was named Executive Director of the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA), where Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell serves as Vice Chairman.

Cox served as one of McDonnell’s top consultants on his Attorney General’s race in 2005 and as his top consultant on his 2009 gubernatorial race. Since McDonnell was elected, Cox has managed the Governor’s PAC, served as one of his top advisors, served as a 2010 political staffer at the RGA and continued to take on individual clients.

McDonnell spoke highly of Cox’s abilities:

“Having served as my campaign manager, transition director, and senior political advisor during my first year as governor, Phil knows how to run highly effective campaigns and understands the many responsibilities confronting our new slate of governors.”

Besides his new role at the RGA, Cox will continue to serve as a strategic advisor to McDonnell. He also recently landed a consulting contract with Virginia Senate Republicans, who are seeking to regain the majority they lost in 2007.
