Church boiler is broken, so they’re collecting coats and blankets for others
By JR Hoeft | Friday, December 24th, 2010 | Catch-AllIf some of you are looking to do some good for others, you might be interested in Trinity Lutheran Norfolk’s “Christmas story.”
Basically, the church’s boiler stopped working and repair won’t be complete until next week – after Christmas. This means that the church building – made of brick and stone with very little insulation has been a bit, shall we say, on the cooler side.
But this has been a blessing.
The church’s condition has reminded church members about how cold it actually is and how much others in need might benefit from a coat/blanket drive.
As a member myself, we’re all so used to going from a warm house, to a warm car, to a warm church and back again, that we occasionally lose sight of those who might not have those luxuries.
Therefore, tonight and tomorrow at services (Christmas Eve – 7:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and Christmas Day – 10 a.m.), we’re collecting new and gently used coats and blankets to give to those in need.
Through this program, maybe we can give back a little, while at the same time celebrating the true reason for Christmas – Jesus Christ – who, Himself, was born outside in the cold so many years ago.
If you can come to services, we’d love to see you. However, you can also donate funds to the program through the church’s website.

According to bible lore, Jesus was born in a warm manger, a warm place for those days, and a right fit spot. Not outside in the cold. I hope your church is repaired soon.
