Congratulations Bill Stanley!
By | Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010 | Politics

The votes are in, and Bill Stanley has won the GOP nomination in the special election to replace Congressman-elect Robert Hurt in the 19th Senate District.  I think we all know it was the Bearing Drift endorsement that made this all possible.  Congratulations!

RPV just sent out the following press release:

RPV Announces Nomination of Bill Stanley for 19th Senate District Special Election
RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement this evening after Bill Stanley was declared the Republican nominee for the Senate District 19 Special Election to fill the term of Congressman-elect Robert Hurt:

“I want to congratulate Bill Stanley for winning the Republican nomination for the 19th Senate District tonight.  I am confident that Bill will be elected on January 11, 2011 to complete the term of Congressman-elect Robert Hurt.  The people of southside Virginia have already shown this month that they understand the need to be represented by legislators – in both Washington and Richmond – who will work to create jobs, reduce taxes, and find ways to reduce the size of our government.

Unfortunately, the Democrats in in both capitols believe that the only way to solve the problems we face are with higher taxes and more involvement in our daily lives.  I know Bill Stanley will work alongside Governor McDonnell to get results, and I look forward to making sure he is elected on January 11, 2011.”

According to the Lynchburg News & Advance, Bill won 42 percent of the vote. His closest competition was Franklin County businessman Melvin Adams, who garnered 23 percent of the vote. Turnout was approximately three percent.

CONGRATULATIONS, SENATOR STANLEY! Bill is a great conservative leader in the 19th Senate district and the 5th Congressional district. It’s GREAT to see the two most solid conservatives (Bill and Melvin Adams) combine for 65% of the vote!

Congratulations, Bill, and I can’t wait to see the Senate Republican caucus add a fiery new conservative!

Am I the only one who thinks in terms of being conservative, Stanley is a huge upgrade? No offense to the new congressman from the 5th district, but Stanley seems to be substantially more conservative.

What are the numbers per precinct/county?

Bill will be a great addition to the Senate Caucus. I am very happy that he won the Primary and will most certainly win in January. Congratulations, Bill.
