“Stealth Candidate”? Moran’s a moron again
By | Friday, October 22nd, 2010 | Politics

According to the Honorable Jim Moran of Virginia’s 8th Congressional District:

“What [Republicans] do is that they find candidates – usually stealth candidates – that haven’t been in office, haven’t served or performed any kind of public service. My opponent is typical.”

Say What?!

Patrick Murray is a retired Army colonel who served in Iraq and the United Nations (both hazardous places, or so I hear).

I will say one thing for Jim Moran, he’s at least entertaining. But he’s a caricature and hardly representing the best interests of the 8th District.

Jim Moran is the inevitable result of the leftist attitude that their politicians are all saints as long as they spout the leftist line du jour. Corruption lying and general viciousness as with Moran, Grayson etc are fine and dandy because the voters need to be lied to or they would never embrace socialism. I’m just quoting them. When I ask leftists if such politicians wouldn’t lie just as quickly to them, they get a blank look on their face since the idea never occurred to them. I hope this country avoids the fate of so many other countries that went down this road.

Moran is right. Patrick Murray has never performed any public service–like beating his wife until the police have to come to his house and remove him from the premises or like grabbing a small boy around the neck who got too close to his car. 24 years in the military pales in comparison to that record.

The voters of the 8th District deserve more public servants like Jim Moran.

    HisRoc,
I think you’re leveling that accusation at Jim Moran, but I can’t be certain based upon how you wrote it. As a downstater relatively new to statewide politics, I’m not familiar with the two issues you’re bringing up. Can you elaborate, please…with evidence.

The source is Wikipedia, but in this case it’s accurate.

In 1999, Moran’s then wife called the police in a domestic violence dispute. Allegedly Moran hit her.

In 2000, he accused an 8-year old African American boy of wielding a gun and trying to steal his car.

Moran has a history of anti-semitic comments.

    J.R.,

It is all pretty well documented in the Washington Post and elsewhere. Google it.

In June 1999, Moran’s then-wife Mary called the Alexandria Police to their home with a complaint that Moran had grabbed her and pushed her down on a bed. The Alexandria Police agreed not to arrest Moran if he would voluntarily leave the residence. The next day Mary Moran filed for divorce, citing verbal and physical abuse in her complaint.

In April 2000, Moran grabbed an 8-year old child who was standing next to Moran’s Toyota Avalon in a parking lot. Moran claimed that the child had threatened him and attempted to carjack his vehicle. The child told police that he was only admiring Moran’s car.

Did I mention the anti-Semitic remarks he made at a town hall meeting in Reston?

    J. R.,

Then there was the incident in May of 2002 (or 2003?) when police were called to Moran’s home because of a disturbance in front of his house. Two different girlfriends has simultaneously decided to pay him a surprise visit for his birthday. “Public servant” Moran was cowering in his house while the ladies duked it out in the front yard and the neighbors called the police. It sounded in the paper like a scene right out of “Desperate Housewives.”

But, you can’t really blame Jimbo for that one. After all, he was just doing to those two women what he has been doing to the taxpayers since he got elected.

Moran…ughhh… I just can’t even comment on him anymore. Vote Murray.

As a follow up to Moran being out of touch with reality and in denial, take a look at Robert McCartney’s column in today’s Washington Post. He interviewed two local Democrats last week about the reasons for the expected Democratic losses on November 2, Donna Harris from Maryland and Jim Moran. Harris’ responses, while typically far left wing in logic, actually make sense if you subscribe to some fundamental liberal views of the role of government in job creation. Moran’s opinions on the other hand, are nothing short of disingenuous:

‘…some other explanations of the Democrats’ woes, especially from Moran, seemed complacent and even counterproductive. Moran believes that Democrats are temporary victims of knee-jerk opposition to the “profound, watershed event” of electing an African American president. The GOP’s current energy is fueled largely by fear and racism, he said, and by manipulation of grass-roots sentiment by a handful of ultra-rich families funding the tea party.’

If Moran really believes that, then he is even more disconnected from reality than most people would want to believe. The unpopularity of the Democrats has nothing to do with soaring deficit spending, it has nothing to do with a huge government take-over of health care that is disapproved by over 60% of the voters, and it has nothing to do with the fact that a $781B stimulus bill failed to halt and reverse double-digit unemployment. It is all about a racist backlash to a black president who less than two years ago was elected with huge majorities. Right, Jimbo.

As for “…manipulation of grass-roots sentiment by a handful of ultra-rich families funding the tea party…” I guess Moran has never heard of George Soros or the scores of wealthy Hollywood glitterati who have been pouring billions into liberal causes since the Clinton Administration.

Correction: Donna Edwards, not Donna Harris. Sorry for the carelessness.

you guys forgot to mention that Moran has accepted $177,000 from an indicted crook:

and hasn’t returned the money or given it to charity

Moran has the same MO as Ted Kennedy and the
generation of backdoor politics. The upcoming vote is a no brainer. Also, the challenger always seems to do a better job…. exception being Obama… LOL.

Moran needs to go home and apoligize to his wife….and his girl friends… oh… and that little boy he accosted…
