    You are a tool.

Please keep your big-government hands out of academia! We don’t need another moron with a JD mistaking the word “doctor” in his JD with a real doctor – you know nothing about science and I’m sick and tired of folks like you wasting OUR taxpayer dollars to go after academics you disagree with!! But hey, I guess we’ve got plenty of $$ in VA, right?

  3. CAPT Freedom June 16, 2010 15:35 pm

In fact, we’ve got so much money in Virginia we can waste it fighting – and losing – providing healthcare to fellow Americans!

Seriously, you are an absolute tool – and folks like you are making this great state a laughing stock, what are we Alabama? Put the morons in charge…

Captain Oblivious, this has nothing to do with fraud in academia. The healthcare lawsuit does not call for an investigation, but a review of Obamacare given legal and constitutional issues.

Don’t hate just because you don’t have half the mind Cuccinelli does. Is he wrong on a few things? Sure, nobody is perfect, but Cuccinelli is super sharp and in general is a protector of freedom. I can understand why Democrats like you dislike Cuccinelli……..you fear his ability.

“Please keep your big-government hands out of academia!”

Sure, as long as you keep big-government money out of academia.

  6. Mike Barrett June 17, 2010 14:56 pm

Brian once again fails to realize that Universities are the cornerstone of science and technology, and the application of these discoveries in the commercial market. Here the Governor, Lt. Governor, the Secretary of Commerce and Trade are out touting our system around the world as an innovative and vibrant place for relevant science and technology, and Brian wants to reduce support for these institutions.

  7. Matt June 17, 2010 15:49 pm

Hey Mike there is a nice piece of science and technology that has swallowed up millions upon millions of dollars over at ODU(Maglev) that has never worked I am sure glad that the taxpayers spent money on that.

  8. Brian Kirwin June 17, 2010 16:24 pm

Mike favors free money for them with no accountability. No wonder we have massive debt and deficits.

  9. Mike Barrett June 17, 2010 16:37 pm

I see; so I guess your solution for science that does not meet your schedule of production nor cost is to investigate the scientist, and prosecute him or her? How does that square with the Governor’s efforts to tout our research universities?

  10. Brian Kirwin June 17, 2010 17:47 pm

Easy, Mike. Don’t hide documents produced with taxpayer dollars. I guess you want to overturn FOIA next?

  11. Britt Howard June 17, 2010 22:14 pm

There’s a difference between government dollars being wasted on maglev, and money paying for further study of what the “researcher” knows is crap, but passes it off as science because it pays the bills and gets him invited to all the Eco-nut parties.

I wish Maglev worked. I wish other grants met with success as well. The difference is I don’t think anyone knew that Maglev for sure wouldn’t be a great success. Same for medical research that doesn’t pan out. The difference is taking money for researching snake oil that you know is bogus. That is fraud and should be prosecuted if proven. “Academic Freedom” includes the right to be wrong, the right to be abnormal, even offensive, but not fraudulent. Really, it gives genuine research into ecology, earth science, and “Green Tech” an unfairly bad name.
