I really think once again the Scott Rigell just continues to impress. These are all good men, but I love Scott’s combination of business background and leadership. Great job Scott!

“the Scott Rigell” is that like “the Oprah”?

Great job everyone for coming out tonight and participating during such nasty weather. Really enjoyed Scott Rigell, and talking with him after the debate. His answer on energy was spot on, and I appreciate his business background; he seems incredibly sincere. Good job.

Tim J, Kenny Golden was sick with the flu. I wish he had been there. They all did a good job but I must admit, three of them stood out to me. We have outstanding candidates for this race and it makes it very hard to choose. Maybe I’ll take a break on this one.

I was very happy to watch the forum, thanks bearing drift for putting it live so I can go back later!! I listened to all candidates and I am definitely standing behind SCOTT TAYLOR. I did like Loyola & Mizausawa. I liked what they had to say but I really feel that they need to back Scott Taylor. He overwhelmingly outways ALL other candidates in beating Glenn Nye. I think that Loyola & Mizausawa could be a real asset to TAYLOR and the republican party. The party really needs to be looking ahead to which candidate can beat NYE, and that is TAYLOR by far!! Rigell seemed like a nice man, but it seems that he tries to force energy & momentum, and it just doesn’t come nature for him, therefore seeming like it is fake. I don’t think it is, it’s just how it comes across. On the other hand, when Taylor speaks, it resignates to my core. He has the ability to lift people, to movtivate people to get involved. That is what we need w/the state of our country. The money being spent in this campaign already is just sickening. I don’t think you should be able to buy an election; you should be able to stand on your own feet and views alone. I hope that all Republicans will really think about who truly can beat NYE, and join me in supporting SCOTT TAYLOR for the 2nd District!

It felt like some of the candidates had memorized and simply repeated certain catchy phrases. Look within, and so on. I enjoyed watching, and thanks to Mr. Hoeft for making this happen.

Thanks JR for this window into the debate. I hope that there will be a an opportunity for a future town hall-like forum where the candidates can mix it up with one another and also take questions from the audience.

  12. Ashley February 23, 2010 12:30 pm

Yes Tim J, that would be a great idea and would really give a lot of insight into the candidates.

Tim J – at the Bearing Drift forum on the campus of Old Dominion University, sponsored by the College Republicans and Norfolk/Portsmouth Young Republicans, Thursday, 7PM, Apr. 15 – there will be cross questions (but they will not be direct or specific to a candidate) – and we will take a couple questions from the audience and the internet.

We are also working on debates in the 5th and 11th districts.

Just watched video of the debate from the other night. Thanks for covering this event Bearing Drift!

From my view, Scott Rigell was the strongest of the evening. With the economy in recession and a carrier probably leaving Hampton Roads, I think it is time to turn to a successful businessman for leadership.

Really? You watched the video and though that?

I think it’s time there is some integrityinyourposts….

Scott Taylor has my support. I can’t put my trust in a man who donated to Obama. Just can’t do it. If he was so impressed with Obama’s rhetoric, he should be sitting next to Nye. Scott Taylor beats Nye in November.
