Democrat candidate investigated
By | Friday, September 4th, 2009 | Policy

Capt. John Bell, Democrat running for Sheriff in Virginia Beach, is under a cloud of suspicion. According to the Virginian Pilot, the complaint says he “misused government resources” as a city employee running for political office.

He’s running for Sheriff, not Mayor of Portsmouth.

His “victim” quote claims it’s all politics and people are trying to make his “life miserable.” Bearing Drift is trying to find out the allegations being investigated and whether any proof of wrongdoing has been found.

About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.
