The three faces of Mount Taxumore in Virginia Beach are running hard (well, at least running harder than Creigh Deeds) to secure votes in Virginia Beach.
Robert Mathieson and Joseph Bouchard haven’t exactly advertised their repeated votes to raise taxes in their brief tenures as Delegate, and Peter Schmidt hasn’t announced which taxes he’ll raise and how high, since Schmidt’s website is full of tax cut ideas and absent of the sales and gas tax increase pushes he loved the last time he ran for office(Virginian-Pilot June 05, 2005).
But certainly the looney left loves their league of liberals living to lionize lofty legal tender for legislatures.
Which brings us to Congressman Glenn Nye.
Nye opposed Obama’s budget and did everything to oppose Obama’s signature initiatives that he could in his first six months in office. Nye voted against Cap and Trade while sending letters to supporter talking about how proud they should be that such landmark legislation passed, and sending letters to opponents proclaiming his opposition.
With health care reform on the rocket docket, will Nye oppose Obama again?
Understandably, Obama supporters in the 2nd district are threatening to look elsewhere in a primary against Nye for someone more reliably liberal.
And they’re looking squarely at Mount Taxumore.
Mathieson, Bouchard and Schmidt will deny it, of course, just like they’ll deny that they want to raise taxes. But Democrats denying they’ll do something doesn’t mean much – I was taught that by Mark “I won’t raise your taxes” Warner and Tim “DNC is weekends only” Kaine.
But which one is most likely to take on Nye?
