Nye’s office clarifies climate change vote and letters
By JR Hoeft | Friday, July 10th, 2009 | PolicyRep. Glenn Nye’s office made a statement to BD today regarding his vote against the climate change bill, which seemed contrary to his letter to a constituent that appeared to support the same bill:
“Congressman Nye has been entirely consistent all along – and while the letters emphasize different points, they do not contradict one another,” said Clark Pettig, Nye spokesman. “He strongly supports addressing climate change and investing in green jobs, but he objects to the cap and trade program.”

I guess we are seeing efforts at damage control.
I think anyone reading the emails received by the constituent can accurately describe this as being an attempt to waffle, or at least straddle the fence.
I am glad that efforts have resulted in more clearly helping to identify just exactly where Glenn stands on this issue. (Such clarity was not present after reading both of the previous offerings.) But I am disappointed that such measures were necessary to finally get to clarity. How many citizens that wrote to him on this issue and received replies are unaware of the clarity?
I wish to point out that I remain a supporter of Glenn Nye. My support for him has been dented, but not destroyed.
“My support for him has been dented, but not destroyed.”
I never would have guessed.
